Ponytail Chapter 12 : Vans Sullivan


Everyone in the court room fell silent at this confession no one knew anything about their recent hero only that she had lived in the orphanage as a little girl after eyewitnessing the death of her mother Fandora and her stepfather she had never met her biological father he had left on a dangerous quest and never came back . And now Vans comes claiming to be Ponytail’s father everyone was surprised but they could never be as surprised as Ponytail was she stood silent she did not know what to think or believe in all her years of being a student of kung fu she had learned to read social cues and facial expressions she can tell when most  people are lying. But his expression was unreadable she could not interpret his expression.

Ponytail looked at him and said  “What did you say “?

Vans sighed and said “ Look I'm not going to say it again”..


“You expect me to believe that my long lost father  is you what do you have to say for yourself”!  Ponytail snapped she punched the desk and it shattered into pieces

Everyone jumped and looked at Ponytail with shock and fear Hunter Hunter gulped and thought Holy shit how much has she been holding back ..

Vans laughed and said  “Kind and gentle with the people she trusts ,strong and powerful with people she is does not trust. Just like your mother when we first met . I could take my eyes off of her  and then she punched me through the wall she had incredible strength .Who is your new boyfriend he kinda looks like I did in high school”

Ponytail blushed and then glared at him and shuttered out “ Hunter is not my boyfriend he is the cop in charge of protecting Denium when I was in school studying abroad I just came back from college four  months ago”.

“Can we skip the reunion we need to focus on Blade you can catch up later”. A-K stated as she slammed her gaffel down to get their attention.

“Right”.  Ponytail said confidently as she grabbed the files on the evidence table and pulled them out they were his records as a teenager Ponytail smiled and looked down at these so called crimes these were not that bad they could be considered a misdemeanors then actually crimes. People were really harsh to him .

Something tells me that his father was not the only reason the townspeople has treated Blade so harshly. She thought logically

“Vans what knowledge do you hold that might help us shed some light to the courtroom.” Yesenia said harshly  Ponytail rolled her eyes Yesenia you really need to lighten up...

Vans Glared at her and said “ I'm not gonna answer anything you have to say Yesenia Monez”.

“Why not”!  she snapped


“Because you are not who you claim to be isn’t that right “.

Yesenia gasped and said “ I have no idea what you are talking about !”.

“Really are you not a A class assassin “? He said cockly as he smirked at her as he crossed his arms and said  “Oh no did I hit a nerve”?

“That is in the past now anyways I Am not the one on trial here you are so just shut up and mind your own business “!Yesenia snapped

“Geez you're pretty hostel for someone with your looks I guess beauty really is skin deep”. Vans remarked

“Ah you are just jealous because I'm young and beautiful and you are an old washed up fool”. she replied back arrogantly  

Vans looked at her with blood lust and said  “ I would be careful what you say you might regret it you have no idea what had lived through”.  

“Objection your honor I think maybe Ponytail should question him Yesenia is just making him difficult to deal with “.said Yankee

“Finally we found something we agree on  motion carried”. Said A-K

Yankee gets up from his chair and walks over towards Hunter and sits down next to Denium, Levi, Katka, and Hunter and sighs “ This trial is taking a long time “.

Hunter rolled his eyes and said  “Go back to your side Yankee after what you did do you think I'm in a good mood”.

Denium and Levi smirk at him the expression on his face was priceless. They feel kinda bad for Yankee though he is having a really Bad day and it has just gotten a whole lot worse.

Yankee smirked and said “ Blade stewart does not have a chance with all the evidence we have against him their is no way he can win this it is over but I Am giving you one last chance to end this reckless strike against your own kind freaks like him do not deserve to live it is time we cleanse the world of super powered beings for good what do you say”  
“I say you are out of your mind “.said Hunter has flung his hand away from his shoulder and glared at him   “There is no way I'm going to sell out my friends for your own personal mission to “ cleanse” the world”.

“No one says no to me that is it I have had it”! said Yanee as he raised his fist going in for a punch Hunter held up his arms protectively.

Hunter hesitated He really wanted to use his trump card on Yankee right now but he can not use it without exposing himself. The time will reveal itself in time I can not use it not yet ...he thought  as he braced for impact. when none came he opened his eyes to see Denium grabbing Yankee’s first Hunter gasped he had never seen her move he did not realize how fast Denium was for her age her speed is incredible.

“Shut up you old geezer and leave Hunter alone “!said Denium

“Why do you care about this piece of trash so much “!said Yankee as he tried to release himself from Denium’s grip.

“Because he is my family and I will not let you hurt  him”! said Denium  

Yankee gasped and looked down Family he thought as a image of his wife and kids came into his mind he scoffed and said  “You don’t have a family you have no idea what family means since yours died when you were born”.

Hunter looked at Denium in shock and thought  Denium.....Do I really mean that much to you?

Denium nodded Hunter had looked her with surprise he had  let himself forget about her ability to read minds.Great that means she knows I Am hiding something from Ponytail.

“Don’t worry Hunter I wouldn’t tell her “.Denium whispered and went back to her side of the bench.

A guard had seen Yankee’s assault on Hunter and had to remove him from the courtroom for good this time before they had handcuffed him to one of the benches but now he had caused one of the eyewitness to be in actual danger he is a threat to everyone in the room.

Hunter smiled and said “ Denium why did you protect me I thought you did not like me”.

Denium looked down at the ground shyly and said  “W-w-well you see I never had a family so I do not know what it feels like but whenever I'm around you and Ponytail and I watch you blicker and flirt with each other it makes me wonder if this is what having parents is like”.

Hunter smiled and said “ You're not too bad yourself squirt”.as he ruffled her black hair. Denium looked up at him in shock and then started to cry. Hunter sweatdropped and thought oh no what did I do I just wanted to comfort her aw man I really screwed up he thought but then something had grabbed him and clung him into a warm and soft embrace. He glanced down and found Denium hugging and sobbing tears streaming from her face these were not tears of sadness they were tears of joy.

“ Ponytail you may question Vans now said A-k interrupting her train of thought she nodded and and head towards the witness and cleared her throat.  “ Mr.Sullivan as a agent you have had many dangerous mission what might you say was the most dangerous”.

“I would have to say infiltrating Blade’s whereabouts, and drag him back to jail at first I did not think much of the assignment , as I tracked his movements I discovered more about the boy and realized  he was just a teenager ,with incredible abilities. He was no different then all of us and thought who are we to judge what is normal and what isn’t ? As a price for the accepting the assignment  my boss told me that the assignment had to be given one hundred percent of my attention . I could not tell anyone where I was going not even my nine month pregnant wife Fandora”.  he paused to look at his daughter’s expression.

She was not looking at him, she was looking away he could tell she was on the verge of tears. By the was clenching her fist her body was trembling and biting her lip to keep her tears down he knew because he used to do that too. apparently Ponytail had inherited his mask his code was to put others before himself and try to hide how he really felt to prevent people from worrying about  him. He did not want that from her he wanted her to be stronger then him so she can prepare herself for any obstacles that she faced she does not make the same mistake he made.

“What happened after that “. Yesenia said softly everyone glanced her way apparently his words earlier had a huge impact on her behavior.

“When I sent in my final report six years had passed and I had reported his movement within a journal of all my adventures and travels my boss was very satisfied and gave me the okay to final go back home I was so excited .But, by the time I had come I was too late Fandora lied dead along with her new husband and their was no sign of Suave and the new baby .Since I had been gone I did not know the name of our new child but now I do to bad I did not show up until twenty three later. I would have loved to watch her grow up”. . He said with remorse as he swallowed trying to suppress the tears that threatened to rise.

Ponytail smiled sadly at him and said “ Looks like its true you ready are my dad she said happily as she finally lifted her head to reveal fresh tears rolling down her face her eyeliner and mascara messed up from crying.

“Your Ponytail’s father”. said a voice in front of him he looked down and smirked everyone gasped impressed with Denim's speed the girl was impressive.

“Yeah why “? he said awkwardly



“Are you going to kill Hunter now “? she asked curiously

A-K laughed at  the question

Hunter glared at her

Vans looked at Denium with confusion and said “ No why?”

“He did shock you in the balls with a taser”. said Denium

“Although that hurt very very badly I'm not going to hold it against  him he did not know know I was Ponytail's father  and he has my approval”. he said proudly

“Approval do what exactly”? Blade asked teasingly

“You know what I meant Hunter you have permission to marry my daughter she deserves a guy like you”. Vans said compassionately

Hunter turned red and said  “W-what we are not even dating it is a bit early to be thinking about that!”

“Touch’e except I read your mind I know you have the ring already and you were going to ask her out after the blade case”. He commented as he gave Hunter a smirk and winked at Denium she smiled and smirked at him .

You little... he thought glaring at Denium what else did she read about him.

She stuck her tongue out at him pulled her eye down childishly

“Great not another mind reader I already have problems with Denium now Ponytail’s father my thoughts are private thank you very much”! Hunter said childishly

Ponytail quickly turned around and looked at him immediately gazing into his sky blue eyes with shock as she clasping her hands together affectionately and said “ You want to marry me Hunter” as she walked closer to him and touched his cheek softly  He blushed at her close proximity she was so close he could smell the lavender perfume she wore. He scratched the back of his head nervously and shuttered  

“ Y-yes I really do to tell you the truth I have liked you since we were in high school , but I could not work up the courage to tell you , I was such a wimp back then”.  he said serious passionate voice

“Aww you want to marry Ponytail I knew you liked her you kept staring at her on the way here you looked so worried” said Katka

Everyone got up and said “ Ponytail, Hunter !” and held hands and then started to sway back and forth as they cheered for the couple.

A-K started to get annoyed by the rising Volume in the courtroom and banged her gavel down with immense force and said, “ I want Order in this courtroom lets have the love birds settle this later”!. Everyone quickly sat down and waited for the court to proceed.

“We are not lovebirds”! they shouted while blushing

“Since you can’t decide I will decide for you judging by the lack of legitimate evidence and the speeches made by the witnesses I pled Blade Connor Stewart ........she paused briefly and then continued “ Not guilty”. she finished with pride as she slammed her gavel symbolizing the end of the investigation. Then Katka ran up to Blade he spun her around as she spun around she shouted  “Yes “!excitedly words could not express how happy she was knowing her son will not have to grow up without a father.They were finally a true family  just like she had hoped they would be.

Yankee shot up from his chair and slammed his fist on the desk and exclaimed “No ! this is an outrage he should be put away please reconsider we have more evidence “!

“You dare question the authority of your Judge in court take him away “! A-K shouted as she pointed at the guards on either side of her  Yankee tried to escape but some Australian shepherd cop dogs had grabbed him and pinned him to the ground. there were four of them one was on his butt ,the other was biting his left arm blood leaked from it, One of them on his right leg and the last one was on his chest staring at him intensely and growling.

“What is it boy  did you find something”?  asked Hunter as he bent down as the dog scratched at Yankee’s left pocket in his shirt .  

“Oh my god”! said Katka in shock

“What is it “?said Denium she could not see anything she had to jump up and down to get a good look she may be tall for a eight year old but the adults still tower over her. Levi could see everything find he noticed Denium’s struggle and grabbed her.

She blushed and said “What are you doing!  “

“Helping you ”. he said as he lifted her piggyback style so she could see she gasped and said “ I knew he was no cop”
